Republican Young Conductors Competition named after Dilbar Abdurakhmanova

Regulations

This Regulation defines the procedure, timeline, and conditions for the Republican Young Conductors Competition named after Dilbar Abdurakhmanova, the requirements for participants, and the procedure for awarding winners. It is organized by the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, the Creative Association of Orchestra and Choir Ensembles, and the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, aiming to popularize national, symphonic, and choral music, support young conducting talent, preserve the traditions of the conducting school, and raise the standard of professional music education. The competition is held in three nominations — symphony orchestra conducting, Uzbek folk instrument orchestra conducting, and choir conducting — across three rounds: Round I takes place in person, accompanied by two pianos; Round II is a short practical rehearsal with an ensemble; and Round III is a full concert performance of the program, with the number of participants narrowing at each stage and later-round programs determined by a draw. Performances are judged by a jury of noted conductors, composers, teachers, and cultural figures, based on rehearsal quality, conducting technique, stylistic accuracy, artistic coherence, and artistry; winners are recognized with a Grand Prix, 1st–3rd degree laureate placements in each nomination, and a diplomat's award, with the Grand Prix winner and laureates automatically qualifying for the M. Ashrafi International Competition in April 2027.

Applications and participant registration close on October 20, 2026, in online and offline formats.
